He may be someone you have never heard about, yet he is, in my opinion, one of the greatest human beings alive today.
His inventions made CDs and DVDs possible. His batteries are found in every hybrid car. He's moved solar panel technology into the 21st century. But he's also been an outspoken advocate for social justice - which is likely why the right wing press tries to avoid informing people about his contribution to the betterment of humanity.
Listen to the two men who speak first in this video, offering very impressive introductions. Then listen to the quiet voice of Mr. Ovishinsky, an optimistic visionary, a brilliant, practical, and successful leader in both the physical sciences AND movements for social transformation, and a man with great moral courage. He is, in short, a person who represents the highest ideal of what it means to be a great American.
Meet Stan Ovshinsky, from Michigan:
Reflections, thoughts off-the-beaten-path and (in)digestion of current events by a hospital chaplain from Indiana (where we're called Hoosiers) who moved to Australia in June 2008. Taking faith seriously, trying to make a real difference in the lives of people, and seeking to maintain a "balanced" perspective by clowning around on a unicycle and twisting animal balloons as my alter ego: "Clair de L'uni" are some of my favourite ways to journey through life. Grandfatherhood is also exhilarating!
